Betty J. Edwards, MD Obstetrician Gynecologist

Betty EdwardsWith nearly 40 years of professional excellence as an Obstetrician-Gynecologist, Dr. Betty Edwards currently operates a private practice in Houston, Texas. She began her practice in 1981, shortly after completing her medical training. Dr. Edwards also dedicates much of her time to medical education, having taught as a professor for many years. She first taught as an assistant professor at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston from 1980 to 1981. She returned to teaching in 1989, becoming a clinical assistant professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and she is still teaching in that role today. Dr. Edwards also currently serves on the staff of the Walker County Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic at Huntsville Memorial Hospital.

She began her own education at the University of Texas, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology in 1971. She received her Medical Doctorate from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 1976, and then completed her internship at the College of Medicine and Life Sciences of the University of Toledo. From 1977 to 1980, she returned to the University of Texas for her residency. Dr. Edwards is a fellow of both the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. She was named a “Super Doctor,” and has received the Medical Student Teaching Award from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.
